Detailed description of Pensacola Country Club

Pensacola Country Club is a Private, 18 hole golf course located in Pensacola, Florida.

Pensacola Country Club was established in 1902. The course dates to 1910. The course was designed by Donald Ross and renovated in 2006 by Jerry Pate.

This course has greens that are small, elevated, medium in speed, and very well-bunkered. The fairways are tree lined and water comes into play on a few holes. One of the more difficult holes is #16, a 146-yard, par 3, requiring a forced carry over a body of water to a green protected by a large bunker in the rear and one on each side.

Completed in January 2008, the two-story clubhouse commands a magnificent view of Pensacola Bay and a dramatic Par 3 finishing hole.

Pensacola Country Club plays to a par-72 and maximum distance of 6,615 yards. The course rating is 72.2 with a 130 slope rating.

Blue tees: par-72, 6,615 yards, 72.2 / 130

White tees: par-72, 6,016 yards, 69.5 / 126

Gold tees: par-72, 5,308 yards, 65.8 / 116

Red tees: par-72, 5,162 yards, 69.8 / 119

Pensacola Country Club is a private course that was totally redone after Hurricane Ivan. It became a hugely better course after the redo.

The course has a good balance of holes, some with lakes and some without. The fairways and greens were in great shape for the month of January when I played it with the Bermuda fairways only being slightly dormant. Real challenging layout.

The only weak hole, in my opinion, is the 160-yard par three finishing hole. Yes, it is the only hole along Pensacola Bay, but they had to build the green way up to get it high enough above the bay water and with frequent winds coming off the bay, it can be a real bummer finishing your round with a double bogey.

The 17th hole is a great potential finishing par 4 - I suggest they make #18 the 10th hole which would allow #17 to be the new 18th. But, a great course and fun to play if you get an invitation - plan to pay around $110 as a guest.

Would travel: 20-30 Miles, Not Vacation Worthy
